NT Server OptionPack Installation Error

When I installed the NT4 server option pack, I received the following message to abort the installation. Initialization error of DLL file: Initialization error occurred on the file WINNT\system32\KERNEL32.dll. I would like to know how to fix this problem to install the option pack to upgrade the IIS from version 3 to version 4 on a NT4 server.
