NT workstation connection timeout.

We are connecting to an application via router thru a cloud. If the user also connects to the internet thru an ISP, the application will lose connection. Is there a timeout in registry that can be adjusted for this type of problem.
I tried to route the user directly to the remote Server (IP address). This did not change the outcome.
