NT3.51 to NT4 Slow file transfers

We seen to be experiencing very slow copying of large file between NT3.51 and NT4 (between like OS versions is fine) It seems that there may be differences in the way the NT 3.51 drives its network comms compared with NT4. Are there any registry changes that would fix this?
