NT4 MSDOS Command prompt error message

The name specified is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

The above error message when i do any type of prompt(ipconfig, switching drive letters, etc.) I’ve been supporting NT for 5 years now and I’ve seen this once before, but it escapes me what the problem is, or what’s the solution. Anyone who can correctly tell me the solution and what may be the problem will receive 500 points. Thanks!
