Calling all NT experts!
I have an NT 4 server with 2 IDE disks (non raided). There are 2 primary partitions on the first disk (C and D) and 3 primary partitions on the second disk (J, K and L). The OS boots off the first disk (C:).
My objective is to build a new much higher & current spec server and move all the data across onto the new server. The new server will be hardware raided (4 SCSI disks – RAID 5) with a significant amount of additional space compared to the old one. Both are Compaq servers but differ in their models.
My question is that, is there any way that I can do a complete system restore of the old server onto the new one given that I’ll configure the disk partitions on the new server in an identical fashion as the old one but with each partition having alot more additional space; rather than having to rebuild the server from scratch and restore all the data? I’m reluctant to rebuild the new server as the old one contains a 3rd party application that was installed by contractors and there is no documentation coupled with the fact that there were numerous problems with getting it up and running.
Many thanks in advance for all your advice.
