NT40SP6a FilesTaggedReadOnly – IN2

by robert.marsh . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

OpSys: NT4.0,SP6a; Apps: MS Office2000;
User accesses file from server using Explorer or any Office2000 App. Before the file comes up, notification pops up that file is in use by user THAT IS TRYING TO CURRENTLY ACCESS the file and it will only open as read on. It also creates a copy of that file on the server with the additional secondary extension ” .IN2 ”
After thorough virus check, various utils to check drives, and defragmenting, my only conclusion is that Server Manager & NTFS are having a problem keeping track of what is open and by whom. Under SrvrMngr, Close All Resources doesn’t solve the problem. At the Command Line, NET FILE ?????? /close doesn’t resolve it. neither does rebooting.
!!!!!! ANY IDEAS, ANYONE? !!!!!
