Office 2000 to Windows XP

I have a Windows XP machine and I installed Microsoft Office 2000 the installation is ok but the problem is once I open the Office application it automatically close the application window. How can I fix it coz I dont have an office for XP I needed to use Office application. Is it with the service pack issue.
