Office 2003 compatibility issues

I have a document that will not open in word 2003 unless i do an open with recovery or something. It will open in word 2000 tho no problem. has anyone seen this issue before?? Any help would be appreciated, as microsoft does not have anything on this! ive been searching an HOur. i uninstalled sp2 and it still didnt help. i am running windows xp. the other person that could open it is running 2000.

ANSWER!:
because 2003 recognizes the problem due to the newest recovery feature. 2000 doesnt recognize the problem because it is using an older document recovery version. 2003 has a brand new one. not just updated!
