Office 97 and Windows XP

I have 2 clients that are both running Office 97 on Windows XP machines. Both have a W2K servers using AD. Both use Dell desktops. Both have issues where Office applications “hang” and often get “Write failed” popup messages from time to time. I’ve disabled disk caching and SMB authentication but still get the errors. Any ideas?
