Offline File Sync Problems on a WAN…

I have a big problem with Offline Files that I need a solution for. I have a laptop that I’m using Offline Files to sync down my user directory from a local LAN server. The problem occurs when I go to another WAN-linked site. Even though the WAN connection is 56K, the server at the first site is “seen” on the network, and Windows 2000 proceeds to sync my files, becuase it detects that I have a 100MB connection to the network (ethernet), rather than a dialup connection (in which case Win2K would not sync automatically). I do not want this to happen. Is there a way to have Windows 2000 detect the latency in attempting to sync files with a specific server, and not sync them based on that detected latency?
