Offline Files & Folders

I?ve got a Desktop and Laptop networked and want to make all files & folders in “My Documents” on the desktop, available offline (I don?t want to use Briefcase) on the laptop.
Desktop is running Me
Laptop is running XP Home
Is this possible or have I got to upgrade the OS.
