One partition or Two???

I’m of the old school and feel that it is better to partition a large drive to keep the System partition separate from a miscellaneous files partition. I’ve always thought it was better to keep your system partition as clean as possible.

In discussion with a colleage we are wondering (with the newer faster hard disks) if this is still necessary.

Open to any and all suggestions and comments.
