Opening .msg files

I have an email server that passes attached messages that have been forwarded as a *.msg file. I have tried associating Outlook Express to open the .msg file but it either, tries to open it inline which is blank or opens Outlook Express but with no message. I tried a combination of Win95/98, IE5.5 and Outlook Express 5.0/5.5 but with no luck. Any help appreciated.
