Option Pack 4 — IIS 4.0 Installation

by wcbattey . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

I installed Option Pack 4 to one of my company’s servers (running NT 4.0 Server w/Service Pack 6a) to: a) load Internet Information Server 4.0 and b) allow me to use the server to view website page created/modified in MS FrontPage 2002 (that unlike the 2000 version requires the web pages to be viewed on a server to which the FP 2002 extensions have been applied) before uploading them to our company website (which is hosted on one of our ISP’s servers).
After installing the Option Pack I lookedin Control Panel;Services to see if MS Internet Server 4.0 appeared, either in the installed services [in Services tab] or in the list of services that appeared when I selected the Add button. It does not appear in either location.
My other serveris running IIS 3.0. It lists MS Internet Information Server 3.0 in the Services tab. This is why I am now concerned that something is not “right” with the Option Pack 4.0 load that I performed.
I have used Task Manager to look in the Processes tab to see if the [I believe it is] “inet?” file that indicates IIS is up and running was present — it is.
I would appreciate any feedback that might lead me in the right direction/provide some detailed insight into what might have gone wrong with the load and how to correct it.
