Oracle vs Domain Change

by somastro . Updated 25 years, 1 month ago

I moved an Oracle Database Win2K Non-DC Server from a WINNT to WIN2K domain (Win2K DC). Intially, I was getting “… can not connect to domain..” message. As a novice WIN2K person, I began poking around to later find out that “WINS” was my solution since my company does not strictly enforce DNS addressing. This enabled me to successfully change the domain, but now ORACLE-related Services fail because the Oracle tool sqlplus can not connect and generating an “ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed” message. Seems like a security issue. However, do I activate DNS within the new domain then point my Oracle server to it? In doing, can this harm others on the network? – just taking the necessary precautions! All of the trusts established with my new domain appear to be working correctly. Or, does my problem strictly fall within security? The DC shows an error #36872 in its event logs, “No suitable default server credentials exist on this system….” Thanks in advance
