Other LDAP services then AD????

Hello,
I’m just thinking that if I implement the same (or similar) schema model as Active Directory on another LDAP server (let’s say iPlanet Directory service) could I use this LDAP server instead of Domain Controller in the AD??? Let’s say I manually put the location in the DNS of “DC” _LDAP.site. etc, so that clients can find my iPlanet LDAP server and let say that it support Kerberos authentication, could this work??? Could Win2K Pro users get validated and authenticated by a iPlanetLDAP server??
