Outlook Express 6.0.2600

I have IE 6.0.2600 WIN98SE, PIII/550MHZ, 128MB RAM, 20GB HDD. Nowadays when I click a link in Outlook Express emails the pointer turns into a “hand” sign & then the OE freezes completely. Then I have to do the CTRL-ALT-DEL routine to get rid of the frozen OE window. After the CTRL-ALT-DEL routine when OE is reopened I can click the link normally. I cannot revert back to the “old” version of OE as it wont allow me to do so. I also tried “repairing” OE in Add/Remove Prgrams several times with no improvement. Please help urgently.
