Outlook Express and Roamin Profiles

We have a medium sized NT4.0 network and are using roaming profiles for some of our users. Users are complaining that they are losing mail with Outlook Express when moving to a different machine. MS say to upgrade to version 5.5 to solve the problem, which we have done to no avail.
Anyone got any suggestions?
