Outlook Express very slow to start up

Outlook express 5, very slow to start up. Upgraded to Outlook Express 6, still same very slow start up 2mins.
Only 10 items in inbox, 5 in sent items, rest 0.

It doesn’t matter whether connected to internet or not. All other applications start quick including Internet Explorer. What is Outlook Express doing?
