Outlook will aquire 97-99% of the CPU time within one minute of running Outlook.exe. This will happen when Outlook is activated by running Outlook.exe directly, or from a shortcut icon, as well as by running Outlook indirectly from ActiveSync when a PocketPC is being syncronized.
I have been running Office 2000 on Windows 2000 for several months without problems. I have been able to syncronize to my PocketPC successfully as well, until a few weeks ago.
Other circumstances required that Iperform an FDISK on my hard drive and reload Windows 2000 and all of my applications, including Office 2000. I am connected to the Internet through ADSL and I use ZoneAlarm Pro for a firewall and Norton Anti-Virus for virus protection. I also visit Gibson Research at grc.com for utilities that will look for bots and spy programs on my workstation. No viruses, bots, spies, ect… NONE have been found on my workstation, but when I run Outlook 2000 my CPU usage jumps to 97-99% within one minuteand it hangs there. My PocketPC is now not syncronizing properly and I have unresolved items that I can not get rid of. Syncronization to the PocketPC will resume only after I end the Outlook.exe process through Task Manager. I have un-installed and re-installed Office 2000 with the same results as well as un-installed and re-installed ActiveSync 3.1 for the PocketPC and still the same results.
I can’t find the cause of this issue and could use some direction. Your input is greatly appreciated.
