oversize user profile

I have a user that has a 47 meg profile and it is causing a problem when he logs in and his profile is downloaded from the server, I have tried to delete this profile but the server keeps reconstructing it the same size as before when I access his profile folder to delete some of the files inside the files are deleted but the folder stills shows 47 megs in size, can someone tell me what I am doing wrong
