P4 drops DSL connection

I have a P4 system that will not connect with my DSL connection, I get a “no peer detected” error. I also have a P3 that connects and maintains that connection. I have networked the two but I cannot have them within 8 feet or so of each other without the connection being dropped. The P4 exceeds the requirements and has a SIS chipset.
