Running a small network using a PAradox v9 database. Database resides on a Win98 pc, each client has a locally installed copy of Paradox database engine (BDE). All machines running win(*se2 and MS ME work fine. The one machine running XP pro keeps getting “BDE initialisation failed, insufficient shared memory available”
I can run BDS by setting up a share on the Database “server” and running Paradox from there.
The problem is I want to move the Paradox database tables to the XP machine, henceI have to get the BDE working locally on the XP machine (or no network will equal no database access!!)
I have checked out the BDE support site, and applied their changes (which involved upping the sharedmem variable, and setting a mem address to force Paradox to use lower memory) but to no avail.
.
Is there a way of setting XP memeory for older 16bit progs, as there was in Win98 for older programs?
.
anyone had anything likes this?
.
I am not a Paradox fiend, hence only passing thru, hope you guys do’nt mind!
.
many thanks
