Partitions

Just a quick question for anyone that can respond. Is it common to have a FAT partition and a FAT32 partition along with the NTFS partition. I know that the NTFS partition is needed for Windows XP. The question that I have is there a need for both of the FAT partitions or can I delete one of them during the re-installation of Windows XP??????? If so which should I delete FAT or FAT32. Or should I leave both of them as they are and recreate the NTFS partition?
