Password Conflicts

I have just purchased 150 new IBM laptops running Win2k and when a user connects to my NT4 network remotely and is asked to change his password it is not changing properly in the PDC. The only thing that I can figure out to do is to change the password back to the prior password. I have found nothing about this problem in the Microsoft Knowledge base.
