password recovery

hi I am presently using my home computer but I am trying to download something but it is not installing because i do not have enough privileges to install stuff. can you please tell me what I can do since my brother who takes care of the computer is not here is the someway i can retrieve an administrator password without installing anything since I cant i had the password but its so tie up i cannot remember.
