Pc locks sending e-mail attach.in win2k

This is the situation: I get an existing Microsoft word document and I make changes to it, I send this document as an e-mail attachment, the system frezee and I no able to do anything else, but if I don’t make changes to the same document I can sendit OK, all this is happening in a win2K enviroment.
