PC wont boot with wireless network adapter plugged in

by michael.g.bradshaw . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

Recently I got up to find my computer had crashed. I restarted it and it would not boot up. the monitor sometimes would not come on and other times it would but then would restart before windows loaded.

After lots of experimenting I found it was the wireless network adapter that was causing the problem and when that was removed everything worked fine.

I uninstalled the wireless adapter and installed it again but as soon as I plug it in to the usb socket the computer restarts then wont boot up until I remove the adapter.

In the end I decided to re-format the hard drive and install a fresh version of windows and was sure this would fix it but it has not.
I still have the same problem of PC restarting as soon as I plug in the wireless adapter.

Earlier today I downloaded the latest BIOS software from the motherboard manufacturers website and installed that but that also did not solve the problem and I am now out of ideas.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful to hear them.

Thank you, Michael
