PCMIA card woes

am having trouble trying to get a pcmia card socket to start in windows2000, doesnt detect automatically, and is using same resources as comm1 and modem have tried changing resources in device manager but doesnt allow me to

the linksys network card worked perfectly until the jetstream internet went down, the card stopped working then, also noticed heap of tcp/ip errors in event manager

the laptop is a dell inspiron 7000, running windows 2000 pro, the card socket is texas instruments pc-1220, the modem is ltwin the network card is linksys fast ethernet 10/100
