PDC/Terminal server

Terminal server user manager for domains is used to create user profiles. Their path is rexec/users/profiles/%username%.If the PDC for the domain is not rexec but another client on the network running Windows Server NT4.0, could this cause a network performance problem since authentication happens at the PDC and the profiles are on rexec, isn’t this an extra step?
