I have a problem in the bios of a Gateway computer, I download a file to upgrade the bios for this computer. When I follow the instructions and double click the install file a lot of colors came up in the screen and the computer shutdown.
When I reestart the computer I got the message:
Hard Disk 0 Failure, press F2 for Setup or F1 to resume.
Setup: I tried to reset factory default, it does not work.
Hard disk in the bios setup was marked as none.
So, change it for user and input the hard disk data manually. It does not accept. What can I do to make the bios access the Hard Disk. I can boot with a floppy to Dos, the win98 disk create a virtual C drive, but I can not access the hard drive. I took the HD and try it in another computer, the data is intact, normal. I tried another Hard Drive in this computer. Same response, I can not access it. Could it be the Cmos battery that is going dead? Is there a patch that I can use in a floppy to reinstall the original bios. When I startthe computer without the battery I can not access the bios, it keeps reestarting all the time. “CPU??? battery dead, insert new battery and hit F2 for setup.” My other computer I can access the bios without the battery. Do you have any solution for this problem?
