please help:hard drive detected in bios but not in windows

please i have a compaq evo d510 cmt p4 computer
i tried installing a hdd formerly in my xbox console into my computer, and i discovered that the bios detected it. but when i boot to windows, it couldn’t be found. I tried Symantec Partition Magic but to no avail, and also win98’s fdisk utility could not detect it. It only gave me “error reading disk”
Please someone help me
