I have an Exchange 5.5 server. A few of my users need to be able to use pop3
clients (Outlook Express) to retrieve their email from outside. I have setup
the DNS entries and all and I can access the server from outside. But for
some reason clients cannot authenticate to the server. I have check and pop3
protocol is enabled on the server. Actually I have no clue how the
authentication from pop3 clients should work. What account name and password
should they be using… domain?Name: John Doe
Alias: JDoe
Email: JDoe@mydomain.com
Domain: MyDomain
Domain Acct: JohnD
Password mypass
I have tried the following in the account setup for outlook express:
Account:
jdoe
johnd
jdoe@mydomain.com
mydomain\jdoe
mydomain\johnd
doe
Password:
mypass
None of these allow me to authenticate to the server.
