My mother board has an VIA Tech VT82C596 Power Management Controller which used to work just fine under Win95(OSR2) and Win98se but changed this good habit when I’ve installed Windows Me. This bugs me allot because otherwise I?m quite contempt with Me. When I set the Power Management Profile so that it would turn off monitor after say 5 minutes, turn off hard disks after 10 minutes and go into stand-by after 15 minutes, it only does the first one, the others are just not there. No, sorry, it attempts to shut of hard disks but half a second after that they(it) fire up again (like there would be some kind of hidden process that access it). I turned off the scheduler and any other third party software running in background, and also cleaned to minimum the Run/RunServices keys in registry. No change. Please help.
