Prevent Exch Client from Receiving Mail

Running Exchange5.5, sp3. Would like to prevent an Exchange mailbox from receiving both internal and external email. We don’t want to delete the mailbox as the user is on indeterminate leave. Was thinking of hiding the name from the address book, deleting the smtp address and unchecking all mail protocols under the mailbox properties. Is there another simpler way to acheive the same result?
