Print job hangs, ANONYMOUS LOGON

by swlovett . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

I have several print servers with several printers on each one. Occasionally, a print job will get ‘hung’ in the spool and has to be cancelled in order to let other jobs print. When we display the queue, the owner shows as ‘Anonymous Logon.’ We usually know who the print job belongs to and they are logged on as their valid userid. A resubmit goes fines. Somehow, the real owner of the print job gets lost and replaced with anonymous, which probably has a lot to do with the hang. The event log logs errors concerning that a temp file could not be opened – probably because of the lack of permissions of an anonymous user. There is plenty of disk space available on the server.

Anybody seen this before or have any ideas how to track it down?
System notes: All servers and clients are NT 4.0. The servers are at SP6a. The print server uses JetAdmin software. The printers are primarily HP4’s.

TIA,
Steve
