Printer communication error

by bpd640 . Updated 20 years, 7 months ago

I purchased a Lexmark AIO printer recently. I installed the software onto my computer. When I try to print a test page, I get an error that the printer is not communicating with my computer. My computer is running on Windows XP and is compatible with the software of the printer. I have had a Lexmark before and have not had this kind of problem. I contacted Lexmark support and they walked me through some troubleshooting and that did not work. I even trid the printer on another computer and I received the same error with the other computer. I have connected and reconnected all cables to the printer and computer. I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled the software. I think I know what the problem is, however, I am unable to correct it. I think there is a problem with my USB driver. I have the Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. I have also tried reinstalling the driver for my computer, but because I have the service pack 2, I am unable to reinstall the driver. I even unistalled the service pack 2 and tried reinstalling the new printer and that did not work. I even disabled all antivirus/ spyware protection. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.
