Printer Compability with Maxtor Shared Storage Drive

Hi,
I try to connect my hp photosmart 7100 series with my Maxtor Shared Storage Drive (SSD). When running the configuration software it appears as a printing device in the system status window. But if I want to connect/install it it doesn’t appear in the in \\SSD\printers and fax.
Is it possible that the drive and the printer are not compatible? Does anybody know a solution?
