Printer not grabbing paper

I have a desktop printer that jams (or thinks it’s jamming) almost every time I try to print. The PC is communicating with the printer. My guess is that the mechanism that feeds/grabs the copy paper needs adjustment. I can get it to work occasionally if I keep adjusting the paper in the feeder, but in those cases, it advances too far and part of the copy is cut off. Is there a simple way to fix this?
