Printer problems

I am having a frustrating problem getting a W2k workstaion to connect to a network printer on another W2k workstation on a peer to peer format.
when i try to add the printer I get a ‘you do not have permissions to access this printer, but you can changfe permissions. When I navigate to the printer on the host machine the path \\host_name\printer only shows the computer name and not the printer. I have checked the printer setup on another machine aand it is as it’s suppoesed to be. I have checked everything i can think of and am now going in circles. does anyone have any insight or suggestions?? Would appreciate any help.
