Printer Servers

I have a NETQue printer server that I am trying to configure. After an IP address is assigned it seems pretty straight forward. I am having trouble assigning an address though. I have the server hooked up via a UTP LAN connection. I am running DHCP on Windows NT 4.0 platform and am unsure if DHCP assigns an IP or not. I have tried to arp -s the MAC address to a static IP but I cannot ping the address after it is assigned. I think I am missing a step or two. How can I telnet into the Printer server? How can I use the com port to hook up to a PC and Either telnet or use hyperterminal to communicate with the printer server? Any suggestions?
