Printer Settings Could not be saved

We have installed an HP Laserjet 1100 on a Windows 2000 Pro machine. When we try to share this printer, we get a “Printer Settings Could Not Be Saved. Operation Could not be Completed.” error. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Can’t find anything at MS Knowledge Base. Any help will be welcome.
