Printer troubles

I’m trying to help a friend get a printer working through Remote Assistance. She has an HP Deskjet 710C that shows in her “Printer & Faxes” list with a count of 4 (she’s been at this for a few days).

She tries to delete the printer, but it only results in the word “Deleting” appearing next to the printer icon, and the printer(s) are never completely removed.

She had installed the drivers from her original HP disk (I think they’re probably outdated), so I walked her through uninstalling the drivers.

How can I get this printer information completely off her system so we can start fresh and let XP default to its plug-n-play drivers when we install the printer?
