I’ve recently added a direct fax solution to about 15 users in my office. They each have a direct # (DID)and a fax modem. All machines are p4s with XP pro. I then have 2 networked printers with a dual xeon w2k server. The server is utilizing printsharing.
My probelm is speed!!!!
These users receive large faxes via thier direct fax, 50+ pages. These images are converted to image files by the built in fax service in XP. Unfortunately they almost always print these files which takes 5+minutes to spool and/or it locks up the printer.
Is there a solution for handling the printing of large image files? I’ve tried direct printing via LPR (thus bypassing the server) I did not see a signifigant reduction in time to print.
Is the other format I can have the faxes converted to?
Any thoughts…
