printing problem

I have the following problem: in the spool, after the documents are printed, they remains with status printed and are not deleted. After some time (maybe several hours, a day … I don’t know exactly) it starts reprinting the old documents.
The server is a Win 2000 SP3 which is used as print server for about 10 printers and 100 users.
