printing problems

My HP 940c shows my ink cartridge to be full yet won’t print any colour whatsoever. I have tried 3 carts and the same problem but on the forth no problem at all. As i buy in bulk (6) could it be the ink pad has dried out. Is there sny way to draw it through.
