Problem Backup or restore jobs on NT

Hello.On our NT server there is arcserve manager for backup and restore jobs.Now when I have tried to restore a job, for some peculiar reason it won’t detect the media(tape).I have got the right tape in.And also it didnt do the scheduled backup job.Now why would this be.Any helpful suggestions would be brilliant.
