Problem booting up win98 station

I have a windows 98 station at home that has a lexmark X75 printer attached to it via usb port. When the printer is attached and you try to boot up the computer, it will not do anything. Nothing happens at all. When the printer is not attached, the computer boots up fine. It isn’t the usb port as I have a mouse plugged in to a usb port and that works fine. I have switched out the usb for the mouse with the printer but the computer will not boot up.
