problem connecting to ISP server

I recently upgraded my computer from Windows 98SE to Windows 2000. Since upgrading, I haven’t been able to connect to my ISP using my dial-up internal modem. Everything was working fine with Windows 98SE and the operating system is the only change. I’ve purchased two new modems and I still get the same results, any suggestions?
