Problem opening Word 2000

I am running Windows ME. Everything is fine until suddenly when I try to open Word 2000 everything freezes up with the Word 2000 on the screen. When I do ctl,alt,delete the following message appears:
The system is dangerously low in resources!
Would you like to terminate the following application?
Winword [Not responding]
At this time a reboot is required. Tryed to unstall Word and reinstall but nothing works. Adding memory does not help. Presently running 128MB and added another 128MB. Problem same. Help.
